Pinched Nerve
A pinched nerve is a common condition for which people seek treatment by our Sydney Chiropractor at Advanced Sports Chiropractic. It can occur at any age , and may cause weakness, pain or numbness. Most of the time, what is called a pinched nerve is actually an irritated, or inflamed nerve.
The pinched nerve treatment is the specialty of our Sydney Chiropractor. Initially, an examination can locate the areas of your spine where your nervous system is being affected.
Treatment may then include stretching, strengthening, massage of tight muscles, mobilisations, and spinal manipulations to restore normal movement and position of your spinal bones and joints.
Our Chiropractor in Sydney will also provide advice about proper posture, ongoing spinal care, exercise, and lifestyle habits to prevent future problems.
Pinched Nerve in Lower Back
A pinched nerve that is due to inflammation can heal relatively quickly. However, the cause of the compression might also involve a tight muscle, bony spurs, or changes that are occurring as a result of wear and tear. When these changes take place, they begin to encroach the space where the nerve exits the spine. The bone, muscle or other tissue involved may push against the nerve, causing a pinched nerve.
Other injuries that may lead to the sudden onset of a pinched nerve in the lower back or a pinched nerve in the neck, include bulging discs, a misaligned spine, or very tight muscles and ligaments. In the most common cases, the condition may be the result of a repetitive movement such as twisting, lifting, or even long periods of typing on the keyboard. Athletes may sometimes experience a sudden pinched nerve due to sudden, explosive movements.
A pinched nerve should never be ignored, even if it’s not that painful. The nerves are like an electrical circuit, sending information between your brain and the rest of your body, and a pinched nerve may hinder the information moving along the affected nerve.
A pinched nerve in the lower back or neck can cause pain or impaired physical ability in other areas of the body and thus affect your performance. For example, a pinched nerve in the low back of the spine may be felt all the way down the back of the legs, or a pinched nerve in the neck may be felt all the way down the shoulders into the hands, both resulting in weakness, pain or numbness.
As there can be several causes of a pinched nerve, consulting our Sydney Chiropractor early on, may solve the problem.
We have a wealth of experience in examining the spine and nerve related problems, and provide a proven scientific approach to the healing of the body.
