Back Pain Relief
Back pain relief is a specialty of our Sydney Chiropractor at Advanced Sports Chiropractic. Back pain affects about 80% of people at some point in their lives. There are numerous potential causes, and identifying the underlying source is very important.
Back pain treatment provided by our Sydney Chiropractor will depend on the cause of the back pain.
It may include the following –
- massage of tightened muscles or trigger points around the lower back,
- stretching and strengthening of the lower spinal and leg muscles, eg. hamstring, quads, core muscles
- reduction of any swelling and inflammation around joints,
- and mobilization or adjusting of the spinal joints and pelvis to regain normal movement and alignment.

CAUSES OF BACK PAIN
Common causes of back pain include injury, either sustained in a vehicle accident or during sport or exercise, degeneration or damage to the spine or to a joint or disc, pinched nerves, fatigued or strained muscles, scoliosis and even an imbalance or misalignment caused by poor posture.
Another very common cause of back pain today is also a result of a sedentary lifestyle, such as working long hours in an office job. Extended periods of sitting that create pressure brought about by incorrect posture, or a lack of muscle strength due to inactivity, are responsible for many cases of back pain.
Motor vehicles have also reduced the necessity for us to walk very far. Escalators or elevators in shops and offices mean we rarely choose to use the stairs, while television and the internet have changed the way we entertain ourselves. Doing simple things such as taking a bag of groceries out of the boot of your car, picking something up off the floor, carrying a child, or even simply bending down to pat the dog, can cause a low back pain or injury.
As long as the spine is healthy and functioning correctly, the low back can withstand tremendous forces without injury. However, if the low back is out of alignment or has weakened supporting muscles, then back pain sufferers won’t be generally aware of the degeneration that is occurring in their spine, or that they have a slightly changed gait or that their poor posture is beginning to have an affect on the most important structure that gives them mobility and flexibility.
